THE VIA FERRATA DEGLI ARTISTI
What is a ferrata?
A typical climbing style of the Dolomites, with itineraries equipped with pegs and metal cables to ensure the ascent by providing comfortable foot supports as well as continuous and safe hand holds.
With the special kit made of a double lanyard with an energy absorber, the cable allows you to approach the climb in total safety without resorting to the classic progression pitch by pitch using a rope.
This allows the ascent also of groups (up to 6 people for each alpine guide) which makes it a more "social" activity than classic mountain climbing.
A vertical experience for everybody
DIFFICULTY: The itinerary is quite easy, but one still needs to be in good shape to do this type of ferrata
DURATA: the ascent of this ferrata, considering also the long descent, takes up all day.
ASCENT: the itinerary has an ascent of 600m
LENGHT: covers a total length of 1500 m
A vertical proposal totally “finalese”
Even if via ferrate are not a typical speciality of the area around Finale Ligure, the Ferrata degli artisti of Magliolo has become a traditional attraction for whoever loves this type of climbing.
The itinerary is situated on the southern slope of the Bric Agnellino (1335 m above sea level) until it reaches the top following a series of steep rocky spurs (known as the Costa dei Balzi Rossi given the typical color of the rock) interspersed with gentler stretches.
The southern exposure makes it perfect for spring and autumn, but with the right conditions and/ or the correct departure times of the ascent it may be done throughout the year.
This ferrata is not particularly difficult but long with considering the ascent and descent, the itinerary therefore takes up a whole day.
Particular passage: the 42m long exposed Tibetan bridge
Strong point of the itinerary: beautiful views of the Riviera Ligure
Curiosity: along the itinerary you will find the rock paintings of the artist/ climber Mario Nebiolo
